Nyke Van Wyk is best known for fusing a unique blend of traditional and modern styles with enormous energy within any venue he performs! Coupled with his laid back attitude and warm heart, this violinist brings a presence to the stage that will leave you mesmerized.

At the age of five Nyke began his training as a classical violinist under the teaching of Joe Bischoff, furthering his studies with Emily Faxon. At age nine, he auditioned and was invited to become a member of the Allegro Chamber Youth Orchestra in Orange County, New York under the direction of Conductor Vicktor Prizgintas.

While a member of Allegro, Nyke had the privilege of performing at the Kennedy Library in Boston, the White House, and a tour of Italy, among many other performances including Epcot Center Disney. In February of 2007, Nyke united Allegro with the rock group Pan.a.ce.a for an astounding performance of Pan.a.ce.a’s originals, with strings. In addition, the orchestra and rock group performed an original composition written by Nyke.

Looking to broaden his musical styles, Nyke began studying traditional Celtic/Irish music with Alison Gillespie of Blackwater, then expanding into rock, R&B and jazz. With this diversification Nyke began working as a studio musician with producer Joshua Paul Thompson at Tallest Tree Studios and Bret Alexander at Saturation Acres. He has also worked with various artists in studios in New York, Philadelphia, Seattle and California.

Nyke performs frequently with Scott McKenna as part of an award-winning acoustic duo. As a duo they have built a large following within Pennsylvania and have toured throughout the United States. You can also find Nyke on stage performing with Giants of Despair in and around Northeast Pennsylvania.

Recently, Nyke has joined the incredible group of talented musicians of Cal’s Music. The ensemble is expected to begin performances in early 2009.

With his variety of training and countless performances, Nyke has perfected his personal style as an artist, bringing his love and his passion for music to every performance, whether it be an outdoor café or concert hall.

Nyke is currently a resident in his 1989 Jeep Wrangler running between studios, performances and rehearsals
